Melanie Jansen Gold Cost Health

Dr Melanie Jansen is a Paediatric Intensive Care Specialist and Clinical Ethicist. Her clinical
interests are in cardiac intensive care and ECMO, retrieval, and the management of severe
trauma. She is also interested in staff wellbeing, teamwork and relational skills, and real-time
ethics at the bedside. She has a Master of Arts in Philosophy, and completed a Churchill
Fellowship in clinical ethics and medical humanities in 2017. She is a PhD candidate at the
University of Queensland, developing a pedagogy for complex decision making skills in
critical care. Melanie currently works in PICU at the Queensland Children’s Hospital, and is
the Clinical Ethicist for Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service. She is also a published
poet
