Awards

The Best Paper by a Fellow Award is only open to ACEM Fellows. The successful recipient will receive a certificate and monetary prize of AUD $1,000, and the winner will be announced at the 2025 ASM. ACEM Fellows will be required to submit an abstract that will be reviewed and shortlisted. You will then be notified and given an allocated session within the program to present your paper during the 2025 ASM, where you will be adjudicated during the session.

The Best Paper by a Trainee is awarded annually for a research study to a trainee. The winning trainee will receive a prize of AUD $1,000.

The Best Paper by a Trainee is scored based on the criteria with the award being presented to the winner at the conclusion of the meeting.

Trainees must indicate if they wish to be considered for Best Paper by a Trainee when submitting the abstract. Only abstracts accepted for oral presentation are eligible for this award.

Eligibility:

  • a FACEM Training Program trainee; or
  • an FEMTP, IEMTP or AEMTP trainee; or
  • a Specialist International Medical Graduates (SIMGs) undertaking College requirements for the purpose of attaining eligibility for election to Fellowship of ACEM; or
  • a trainee of another Australian and/or New Zealand specialist medical college in a discipline related to emergency medicine

This is a peer reviewed award, whereby posters will be reviewed and voted on during the ASM. The successful recipient will receive a monetary prize of AUD $500. To be eligible of this award, the presenting author must be registered for, and attend the ASM.

Important: Poster presentations during ACEM ASM 2025 will be in the traditional printed format, however to be eligible for the Best Poster Award, successful poster presenters will also need to submit a digital poster to be reviewed and voted on. 

The PREDICT (Paediatric Research in Emergency Departments International Collaborative) network provides a research platform for achieving multicentre acute care paediatric research in Australia and New Zealand. The successful recipient of the PREDICT Award will receive a monetary prize of AUD $500.

Eligibility:

  • Applicants must be trainee, medical student, or from allied health or nursing professions at the time of the presentation
  • Research involves children < 17 years and performed primarily in an emergency department setting in Australia and or New Zealand

Awarded to the paper that best demonstrates closing an important gap between the best available evidence and current clinical practice. The successful recipient will receive a monetary prize of AUD $1,000. This award is open to FACEMS and Trainees provided their abstract fits the below criteria.

Eligibility:

  • Is the paper related to closing an important gap between the best available evidence and current clinical practice?
  • Does the paper mention results of the practice change and how these were achieved or not?
    Does the paper mention barriers or enablers in implementing the practice change?
  • Was implementation theory applied in the change process?
