Event Details
Date: Saturday, 22 November 2025 1pm-6.30pm
Location: Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, Broadbeach, Queensland
The Ceremony will take place the day before the official start of the 2025 Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM) and workshops, offering you a unique opportunity to connect with your peers, mentors, and the broader College community.
Who can attend
The Ceremony is open to:
- Trainees who have been accepted into Fellowship between 1 September 2024 and 30 August 2025
- New Fellows from the previous year who deferred their attendance to the 2025 Ceremony
- Recipients of College awards, which will be presented during the event
- Families, friends and colleagues of graduates and award winners
What to expect
This is a day to reflect, honour, and share your success with the people who supported you on your journey. The program will include:
- A formal graduation-style ceremony
- Presentation of awards
- Tom Hamilton Oration
- Professional photography opportunities
- Celebratory moments for you and your loved ones

Cost and inclusions
The College Ceremony, Saturday 22 November is complimentary, as is attendance at the New Fellows Workshop on Sunday 23 November. There is no cost to for your guests to attend.
As a graduating participant in the 2025 College Ceremony, you will also receive a discounted registration for the Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM). A personalised registration link with your discount will be included in your invitation email.
Please note that travel, accommodation, and photography packages are not included and will need to be arranged separately.
We hope you’ll take full advantage of this special week of celebration, connection, and professional development.
Who can I invite?
There’s no limit to how many guests you can bring—we’d love your family and friends to join the celebration!
If your guest numbers change from your original RSVP, please notify us and we will update your record.
Can I sit with my guests?
Unfortunately, no. Ceremony participants will be seated in a designated area with easy access to the stage and must return there after receiving their certificate. Your family and friends will be cheering nearby.
Can I leave after I receive my certificate?
We kindly ask that all participants remain for the entire ceremony. This is a shared celebration, and your presence helps honour the achievements of all graduates and award recipients.
Accessibility and support services
We want to ensure everyone has a comfortable and inclusive experience.
When submitting your RSVP, you’ll be able to let us know about any accessibility requirements for yourself or your guests. You’re also welcome to contact us directly at any time to discuss your needs.
The venue will also offer:
- A parent’s room for feeding and changing
- A prayer room for quiet reflection or worship

Photography
Every participant will be professionally photographed on stage with ACEM President, Dr Stephen Gourley. A complimentary copy of this photo will be sent to you after the event as a memento of your achievement.
In addition, optional portrait sessions with your family and guests will be available. Details on how to book these sessions will be shared closer to the day.
When will I receive my portrait photos?
Photo proofs will be emailed within 48 hours of the Ceremony.

About the day
Briefing and seating
All participants are required to attend a pre-ceremony briefing to ensure the event runs smoothly.
We’ll confirm the exact timing and location closer to the day, but please plan to arrive with enough time to take part in this important session.
Dress code – what should I wear?
The College Ceremony is all about you, and we want you to feel comfortable and confident on your special day.
Smart casual attire is the dress code. You are also welcome to wear:
- Academic gowns on stage – available to hire if you wish
- Cultural dress, which we warmly encourage as part of our diverse celebration
For those taking part in portrait photography, academic gowns will be available free of charge at the photo booths.
On-stage recognition
Each New Fellow and award recipient will be individually called to the stage for a special moment and a photo opportunity with ACEM President Dr Stephen Gourley.
Members of the ACEM Council of Education, Council of Advocacy, Practice and Partnerships, and the ACEM Board will also be in attendance to celebrate your achievement and formally welcome you to the Fellowship.
