Colin Banks has an interest in pulmonary embolism diagnosis driven out a frustration of increasing imaging rates and likely over-diagnosis. After having raised the D-dimer threshold for pulmonary embolism exclusion locally, he is leading a multi-centre study assessing an even higher threshold throughout many emergency departments in Queensland.
His other main professional interest is supporting emergency care capacity development in the region but particularly in Papua New Guinea.
