Sustainability

Sustainability is a vital mission for conferences in the modern world to heal the planet and empower ethical leaders. By embodying sustainable principles in every aspect of the event, we can create a positive impact, cherish our resources, and inspire attendees to embrace eco-friendly habits.

The ACEM ASM 2025 is making every effort to reduce the carbon footprint and ensure sustainability practices are being followed where possible:

Digital Satchels
ACEM ASM 2025 will not offer delegate satchels to reduce our waste to landfill.

Name badges
We encourage all delegates to return their name badges at the conclusion of the ASM so that they can be correctly recycled by our supplier.

Reusable Lanyards
Delegates are encouraged to retain and reuse their ACEM lanyards for future events. This simple action helps reduce unnecessary waste and supports our move toward more sustainable event practices.

Collectable Delegate Pin
In place of traditional delegate gifts, each attendee receives a collectable ASM pin to wear on their lanyard. Collect a new design at each ASM you attend.

Meeting app
We are proud that our Meeting app contains all the information about the program and the sponsors, eliminating the need for paper-based materials. Our app enables delegates to interact with each other and with the session facilitators through Q&A features. We strongly urge all delegates to install the app and politely decline any paper documents.

Travel
If you’re coming from interstate or internationally to join ACEM ASM 2025, we appreciate your efforts to reduce your carbon footprint. Many airlines have a simple way for you to offset CO2 when you book your flight.

Cardboard installations

Sustainable Venue
The Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre practices sustainable initiatives in its operations.

Check out some of the ways you can help while onsite below

Bring your own water bottle
Refill your water bottle at one of the many water stations.

Separate your food waste
GCCEC provides general, recycling, food waste and bottle recycling bins throughout the venue.

Recycle your coffee cup
Look for a coffee cup disposal bin thorough out the venue.

Food waste:  Catering quantities are carefully planned by the ACEM Events Team according to final delegate numbers to minimise food waste. GCCEC also have an ongoing partnership with OzHarvest where excess food is collected from the premises and delivered free of charge to more than 37 charities on the Gold Coast. Composting bins receive any leftover served food products that do not meet the food and health safety standards for food donations.

Reusable or Compostable Catering Items
Where single-use items are necessary, compostable or recyclable materials are used for serving food and drinks. Delegates are encouraged to bring reusable coffee cups and water bottles.

Conference Venue: Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Centre

Since its inception, GCCEC has been committed to environmentally friendly practices including energy, water, waste management, and in its resourcing and encouraging event planners to hold green events at the Centre.

Sustainable Travel

Being eco-friendly doesn’t have to stop on holiday. Especially here in Queensland, a state famous for its eco-experiences and breathtaking natural wonders – we are after all home to 5 of the 16 World Heritage sites in Australia. Celebrating and preserving these astounding surroundings is important in these parts, which is why Queensland boasts plenty of opportunities to travel more sustainably.
